Borussia Dortmund secured their first victory of the Bundesliga season on Sunday, defeating VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 in a thrilling encounter at Signal Iduna Park. The win saw Dortmund move back into third place in the table and is a much-needed boost for the team.
The match was dominated by Borussia Dortmund from the start, with both teams creating chances throughout the game. However, it was Borussia Dortmund who broke the deadlock early on when Jadon Sancho's shot found its way past Wolfsburg goalkeeper Eric Høegh-Krohn in the 24th minute.
Dortmund continued to press for more goals and were rewarded with another goal just before half-time when Christian Pulisic headed home from close range after being played through by Sancho.
The second half was even more entertaining as both teams looked to add to their lead. Wolfsburg did manage to find an equaliser through their captain, Benjamin Pavard, but it was too little too late for them.
With the win, Borussia Dortmund moved up to third place in the league table, while VfL Wolfsburg remain rooted at the bottom. It will be interesting to see how this affects the rest of the season, especially with Dortmund facing some tough opponents ahead.
