Dundee United claimed their first win of the season with a narrow victory over Motherwell at Tannadice Park on Saturday evening.
The hosts took the lead in the 18th minute through Ryan Kent, who beat the Motherwell defence to power home a fierce shot from the edge of the box. However, the visitors did not give up and fought back valiantly throughout the match.
In the second half, Dundee United levelled the scoreline in the 54th minute when James Tavernier netted from close range after a good run down the left wing. The equaliser gave the visitors hope and they continued to press hard for a winner.
Momtrel well's best chance came in the 77th minute when Callum McGregor hit the post from distance, but it was not enough to break the deadlock.
With just three minutes remaining, Dundee United sealed the win thanks to a fine strike from substitute Joe Worrall. He received the ball on the edge of the area and fired a powerful shot past the Motherwell goalkeeper into the top corner of the net.
It was a much-needed victory for Dundee United as they continue to battle against relegation. The win also boosted their confidence and gave them something to build upon going forward. They will now turn their attention to their next game away to St Johnstone on Sunday.
